Itineraries to help you spend a day the best way possible

Packing in everything you want to do at Universal Studios Orlando might seem like a daunting task. These itineraries will help you get the most out of your ticket, based on whether you’re visiting one park or two in a single day.

1-park, 1-day ticket

With a 1-Park, 1-Day ticket, you can enter only one park. Here’s how to structure your visit based on which park you choose:

Universal Studios Florida

  • Morning: Kick things off with Despicable Me Minion Mayhem to ease into the day, then head straight to Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ before lines get long. Also squeeze in Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit™ for a high-speed music-powered coaster and Men in Black™ Alien Attack™ for some interactive fun.
  • Afternoon: Conquer Revenge of the Mummy™, then cool off with Transformers: The Ride-3D. Grab lunch at the atmospheric Leaky Cauldron™ in Diagon Alley. Afterward, take on Fast & Furious – Supercharged and step into ET Adventure™, a nostalgic endeavour.
  • Evening: Dive into Springfield with The Simpsons Ride™, then settle in for the thrilling Bourne Stuntacular show. Add Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon™ for late-night laughs and cap your day with Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast. End with a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard lit up after dark.

Islands of Adventure

  • Morning: Start early with Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure™ (it gets busy fast), followed by a ride on the adrenaline-pumping Jurassic World VelociCoaster™. Then, swing through the city on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man® and get soaked at Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls®.
  • Afternoon: Catch your breath with Skull Island: Reign of Kong™, then fuel up with a meal at the award-winning Mythos Restaurant™. After lunch, conquer Doctor Doom’s Fearfall® and whirl through Storm Force Accelatron®.
  • Evening: Explore Seuss Landing™ for some whimsical fun, then finish the day in Hogsmeade™. Don’t miss Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ inside Hogwarts Castle. For extra thrills, ride The Incredible Hulk Coaster®, and if time allows, float along Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges® for a splashy finale.

Epic Universe

  • Morning: Head straight to Super Nintendo World™ and ride Mario Kart™: Bowser’s Challenge. Also explore Yoshi’s Adventure for a family-friendly ride and Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness for coaster-style fun.
  • Afternoon: Visit the Ministry of Magic for dark wizard adventures, then break for lunch in the Celestial Park dining district. Afterward, hop into Starfall Racers for high-speed coaster thrills and wander through the Celestial Carousel for a whimsical spin.
  • Evening: Face classic monsters on Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, then soar with dragons at How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Round off with Dark Universe creature encounters and enjoy the park’s Celestial Park nighttime show before heading out.

2-parks, 1-day (park-to-park) ticket

Harry Potter fans listen up. A 2-parks, 1-day ticket allows you to hop between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure on the popular Hogwarts™ Express as many times as you want.

Universal Studios Florida + Islands of Adventure

  • Morning: Begin in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida with Escape from Gringotts™, then explore the shops before hopping aboard the Hogwarts™ Express to Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure.
  • Afternoon: Ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ and grab lunch at Three Broomsticks™. From there, hit VelociCoaster™ and The Incredible Hulk Coaster® for the big thrills.
  • Evening: You can either head back to Universal Studios Florida for The Bourne Stuntacular, or stay in Islands of Adventure to wind down at Seuss Landing™ and take in views of the lagoon.
Is the Express Pass worth it for a single day?

Yes, especially if you’re visiting on a weekend, holiday, or during peak summer crowds.

Here’s why:

  • Cut wait times from 1+ hours per ride to 10 to15 mins
  • Ride more attractions by skipping more lines
  • Less stress, more fun

Bonus: Want to re-ride your favorites? Upgrade to Unlimited Express Pass to skip lines as many times as you want!

Top tips for a smooth day at Universal Orlando

  • Arrive early: Gates often open slightly before the official time (between 8am and 9am depending on the day), so arriving 30–60 mins early can give you a valuable head start on popular rides before the lines build.
  • Download the Universal Orlando app: The app is your best friend at the theme park. It is a great way to navigate the park more efficiently with real-time wait times, view show schedules, and find mobile food ordering options.
  • Explore by zone, not by ride: To avoid unnecessary backtracking, tackle one themed area at a time. This helps you save time and energy, especially when you’re trying to do it all in one day.
  • Use lockers strategically: Many thrill rides require you to store loose articles in lockers. Small lockers are free for a limited time, so pack light and keep essentials in a waist pack or zippered pockets.
  • Dress for comfort: You’ll be walking several miles in the Florida sun, so wear light clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and don’t forget sunscreen and a hat.
  • Stay hydrated throughout the day: Don’t forget to hydrate. Bring a refillable water bottle and take advantage of the water fountains and quick-service locations that offer free ice water.

Frequently asked questions about Universal Orlando 1-day tickets

Can I use the Express Pass on all rides?

The pass is accepted at most major rides, but not all. Check the list of participating rides here.

Can I visit Epic Universe with a Park-to-Park ticket?

No. Epic Universe is not connected to the other parks. You'll need a separate 1-park ticket (36009) for Epic Universe.

Can I see everything in one park in a day?

You can cover the highlights, but probably not every single ride and show. Prioritize your must-dos, and use the app to monitor wait times and show schedules.

Will I have time to explore CityWalk on the same day?

If you’re not staying for dinner or nightlife, plan to pop into CityWalk briefly as you arrive or leave, just keep in mind it gets very busy in the evening.

What’s the best way to plan my ride order for the day?

Start with the most popular attractions right when the park opens, then work your way around by zone to avoid backtracking. The Universal app can help you adjust in real-time based on wait times.

Can I leave the park and come back later the same day?

Yes, as long as it's the same park you booked and you get your hand stamped at exit, you’re good to re-enter later that day.

Should I make dining reservations for a 1-day visit?

If there’s a specific sit-down restaurant you really want to try (like Mythos or Finnegan’s), it’s worth booking ahead. Otherwise, mobile ordering at quick-service spots will save you time.

Are there any good spots to rest during a packed day?

Yes, head to shaded areas like the Central Park lagoon at Universal Studios, grab a butterbeer and sit near the Hogwarts Express, or enjoy indoor attractions like The Horror Make-Up Show to cool off.

Is it worth staying until park close on a 1-day visit?

Absolutely. Crowds usually thin out later in the evening, which means shorter lines, and the nighttime atmosphere, especially at Hogwarts Castle or on CityWalk, is something special.

How late can I arrive and still enjoy the park?

Try not to arrive later than noon. You’ll miss shorter morning lines and may struggle to do everything you want before closing time.

Is it possible to fit in character meet-and-greets in a one-day trip?

Yes, but keep it flexible. You’ll often spot characters roaming near park entrances or major zones. Snap a quick photo and keep moving if you’re short on time.

What happens if it rains?

Most rides stay open during rain, but outdoor coasters may pause temporarily. Shows and indoor rides continue.
